Job’s Description

Matrix Expedited Service seeks Fleet Maintenance Manager for a dynamic, growth oriented opportunity. This management position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company fleet of over 200 pieces of equipment. Including shop operations, maintenance P&L, asset management, equipment purchases and disposals, lease and rental execution and cost analysis.

An ideal candidate for this position has experience in fleet management and understands the key integration between a well running fleet and the success of the company operation. Takes pride in the work his shop produces and the image that is projected to the drivers and public. Is genuinely concerned and involved in the growth of development of his technicians.

Matrix Expedited Service operates semi-tractors, trailers and medium duty 24’ box trucks. Matrix operates 24 hour seven days a week providing dedicated route and expedited service to the automotive industry.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing maintenance operations

  • Automation of shop records

  • P & L for shop and fleet operating cost

  • Asset management, purchase and disposal of equipment, life cycle analysis

  • Manage outside vendors on rental and lease equipment

  • Manage shop staff including safety, productivity, discipline and training

  • Identify, develop, implement and monitor shop / fleet procedures

  • Attend training on industry specific equipment, regulations and training and function as in-house expert on these issues

  • Perform cost studies on fleet operations and provide improvement solutions on CPM and MPG

  • Integrate with other departments to improve driver training and orientation, operations scheduling and company core values and culture

 
Requirements
  • 10 years supervisory experience in Fleet Management (preferred)

  • 5 years Heavy Truck Technician (Preferred)

  • Bachelor degree in Business administration or equivalent

  • CDL-A License (preferred)

  • Proven experience performing cost studies and analysis

  • Strong personnel management and team building skills

  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations as they apply to fleet service and record keeping

  • Provide support to a 24 hour operation as needed

  • Must have previous experience as a heavy truck technician

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
